Mumbai FYJC online admission 2016-17 to junior colleges saw merit lists mentioning the name of wrong toppers, students getting seats in colleges too far away from their homes, some not even getting seats.

Mumbai 11th admission 2017 for FYJC started from May 29, 2017 for the academic year 2017-18.

FYJC Admission 2017 Schedule

May 29: Mumbai FYJC 11th admission portal open for student registrations
June 15 to July 15: Four rounds of admissions with Mumbai 11th Merit Lists, once every week, after the release of Maharashtra SSC Result 2017. If seats still remain vacant after these 4 rounds of FYJC admission, three additional rounds of 11th admission will be held once every two weeks up to September 1.

FYJC Mumbai Online Admission 2017-18 (mumbai 11th online admission.net)- New Changes

Students who wish to aply for FYJC 11th admission through quota:
You can buy FYJC online admission manual from schools which would be distributed next week
Create a unique identification (UID) number by registering on the Mumbai 11th online admission website by using the login and password given in the manual.
In order to track 11th admissions of students, UID number will be used
When a junior college admits a student via a quota, they nee to enter the UID number on the online database

11th Online Admission Process 2017-18

-Reserved seats admissions will be held before the general seats
-A ‘zero round’ will be held for 11th online admission to the Higher Secondary Vocational Course (HSVC) and quota seats – religious or linguistic minority, in-house and management
-If seats still remain vacant, they will be filled on a first-come-first-served basis.

11th Online Admission Mumbai 2017 - For General Category Students

-A student can apply to only one stream, instead of the previously two
-Choice of stream can be changed during admissions
-Choosing of junior colleges not restricted to zone or wards. Students can pick a minimum of one and a maximum of 10 colleges in their area.
-No provisional admissions are to be done this year. Students can secure admission only once
-Student who is allotted his first preference must pay the fees and secure the seat, as there name will not be taken into account in subsequent rounds of 11th admission.
-If a student is happy with the seat allotted to them, they can also pay fees and confirm their seat
-Only those students who don’t take admission in any college need to wait for further rounds
-No guarantee is given to students of getting a better seat in the more rounds of Mumbai 11th admission.

Students from International Boards

Students who appear for the International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) examinations, equivalent to class 10, will be permitted to secure provisional admissions to first year junior colleges (FYJC) on their predicted scores. It is not clear yet if that seat would be cancelled later if the student’s actual score is lower than the predicted one.

Reservation of Girls

-Around 30% seats in 11th online admission will be reserved for girl students from poor backgrounds
-The seats will be available in the form of ‘compartmentalised reservation’ in the existing 50% quota for socially weaker sections followed in non-minority colleges
-Though it is not compulsory for minority colleges

Shorter college codes: College codes have been shortened this year, so students write them correctly. Colleges located in Mumbai, for instance, will start with the college code-MUM preventing students from accidentally choosing wrong colleges or those that are far from their homes

Mumbai 11th Standard Online Admission Errors

June 20, 2016: The 11th Standard online admission system saw some big errors after the announcement of general merit list which ranked five students as toppers scoring perfect 100s in their Class 10 exams but the students actually scored just 50% to 60%.

July 30-August 2, 2016: Students not claiming seats provided to them previously were given another chance to confirm admissions.
August 8-August 30, 2016: After much pressure from parents and political parties, the education department initiated special rounds of fyjc 11th admission, which allowed students to change their seats or apply again for Mumbai 11th online admission.
