Pune FYJC Admission 2016: What Non-state board students needs to do

First year junior college (FYJC) admission has started and it is an easy step by step procedure for everybody especially the state board students. But students from other boards need to go with some additional procedures to be applied for a Standard XI seat in a state-board affiliated institute.

Apart from getting signed transfer certificates where the students completed Std X from the education officer of the district to getting their grades converted to marks, there are more steps a student must complete even before they start fyjc form filling admission process.

Sunil Pandit, zonal in charge of the centralized admission procedure and vice-principal, Ness Wadia College of Commerce said, "Some of the other boards like the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) give grades in the exam instead of marks. These needs to be converted into marks and checked by the head of the institute. Till now CBSE had designated four schools in Mumbai for the task. We have heard that they will appoint a school here in Pune for the work. However, no official information has come from the board yet. Now it is also mandatory for students who completed Std X from other boards from outside Pune needs to get their original school leaving certificate countersigned on the overleaf by the education officer of their respective district.

As per fyjc information booklet provided on http://pune.fyjc.org.in/, non-SSC board applicants also need to submit an application for eligibility (available with the respective higher secondary school/junior college office) along with necessary documents.
They must also get their documents verified from their school/college head and must submit their online application at any one of the guidance centres.

Meenakshi Raut, assistant director of education, Pune division, said."Students from non-state board schools from outside Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad must get their grade sheets converted to mark sheets at four centres appointed by CBSE in Mumbai and Navi Mumbai - R N Podar school, Santacruz (West), Apeejay school, Nerul in Navi Mumbai, DAV public school, Airoli, Navi Mumbai, and DAV public school, Nerul, Navi Mumbai,".
