FYJC Online admission for Mumbai, Pune 2014-15

Afte the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) results in Maharashtra were declared on Tuesday, the online admission/application process to First Year Junior College (FYJC) started today and will go on till June 25. For 3,05,912 aspirants, there is an intake capacity of 2,83,722 in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region (MMR) in the year 2014-15.
The intake capacity for admissions to FYJC has increased by 11,680 seats, it is very tough for students to secure a seat and a course of their choice is even tougher as junior college principals see a rise in the cut-off marks for fyjc junior colleges online admissions in the Mumbai as well as Pune region .

Madhavi Pethe, principal, M L Dahanukar College of Commerce at Vile Parle, is expecting a rise in fyjc online admissions cutoffs when the fyjc merit list are declared. The Principal said that their fyjc college merit lists cut offs generally close at 89-90 per cent for the open category and it could be an increase of two per cent this year.

Sunil Mantri, principal of Narsee Monjee College of Commerce and Economics, said, “ The marks scored by students are really good this time and that is why the competition is getting tougher and it is definite that the cutoffs would be higher. The students would have a tough time selecting and geting admissions in the fyjc colleges of their choice after the fyjc merits list is announced".

Experts inform that inspite of increasing cutoffs and rise in scores, students need to see that there is a rise in the number of first-year junior colleges and seats in the whole of Maharashtra as compared to the previous year.

There are now 38,559 seats for arts, 1,180 seats more than in 2013, for science, the seats have gone up to 84,216, an increase of 5,320 and for commerce, 1,60,947 seats, an increase of 5,180 seats. FYJC official website http://fyic.org.in/mumbai started its online admissions process on April 24, 2014, for FYJC classes across the MMR. Offline admissions for minority and management quota in the fyjc colleges started on June 18 and will continue uptill June 27. After that, all the institutes will surrender the vacant quota seats to the fyjc education department, and those quota seats would be included in the fyjc online admission process.
